5 March 1597/8: Title Deed between (1) Walter Netter of Cranbrook, son of John Netter, late of Cranbrook, yeoman, deceased, and (2) [the Kent historian] William Lambarde of Halling, Kent, for a messuage called Turkesplace, a forstall, garden, orchard and 30 pieces of fields, pasture and woodland of c.100 acres in total in Cranbrook, Kent; Lambarde pays 100 marks [£66. 13s. 4d.]
[Lambarde’s witnesses: William Tyler is unknown, but Whetenhall Tilghman (1576—after 1651) lived at Holloway Court, Holborough, so was Lambarde’s neighbour. A brother was christened Lambard (one born 1584, died 1586); a second was baptised in September 1586]
